Healing and Prayer Corner

This fall we have been studying 26 of the healing miracles of Christ. We
now know that healing involves faith (not necessarily of the person in need!);
prayer or spoken word; many times, but not always, the laying on of hands
by those praying for the healing; water, oil. or other healing compounds (
AKA mud!); and often, but not always, some action by the person needing
healing. We also know from our knowledge of the acts of the apostles and church
history that ALL OF US, not just Jesus, have the power of the Holy Spirit to be
used as vessels for healing ministry. No one is exempted from the healing grace
of God. Jew/Gentile slave or freeman, man or woman, clean or unclean, young or
old, believer or non-believer, God bestows His healing grace on all those in
need, in body, mind, and spirit. God's healing grace helps us attain balance and
health in all aspects of our lives.

Did you know that those who give generously of themselves to others live
longer, healthier, and happier lives?
Several major studies have shown this to be true. As we enter Advent and
Christmas seasons we have numerous opportunities to think about and help others.
Every person can make a difference in another's life and thereby make a
difference in your own. If you missed completing a Samaritan's purse box or
getting an Angel Tree name, you can still give by providing an extra food bag
for Feed My Lambs, send a card to or visit a shut-in, or signing up to help
with one of the many volunteer opportunities needing yet to be filled here at
St. John's. If you haven't yet committed to regularly giving to fund our
ministries and programs, there is no better time than now.

God freely bestows his healing grace on each of us. We are empowered to
bring healing and blessings to others. As we look forward to celebrating the
remembrance of Immanuel, God with us, may we be empowered to bring
reconciliation, peace, joy, love, faith, hope, and healing to others.
